This STAR WARS LEGO X-WING reveal took 10 months to plan with multiple partners all trying to keep something this big and cool a secret! Cartoon Network partnered with LEGO to reveal this life sized Star Wars LEGO X-Wing to help promote the LEGO Star Wars Mini movie: The Yoda Chronicles. There were so many moving parts it’s hard to pick a favorite, but capturing the Lego X-Wing reveal in the middle of Times Square with 8 plus cameras and directing Storm Troopers was a very proud moment. Being a part of this massive undertaking from the concept to the end, and working in NYC with an outstanding crew, talent and client I couldn’t have asked for a more epic moment!
LEGO STAR WARS Phase 1
This was the first spot of 3 that would build up to revealing the top secret LEGO STARWAR project in Times Square! Going to the LEGO headquarters made everyone on the production team 10 years old again. What a cool place to work and shoot a spot! LEGO was amazing and allowed us the run of the place. Getting to concept, write and direct this project was so much fun!
Our production teams from pre to post were amazing!
MAKING OF: LEGO STARWARS X-WING
I geeked out hard on this project! LEGO provided us with time lapse footage from multiple cameras, then we shot the interviews with the designers and builders and put it all together to run digitally after the LEGO STARWARS X-WING was revealed in
TIMES SQUARE on-air on Cartoon Network. It had an amazing amount of views of all ages!
ADVENTURE TIME & CRAYOLA
It’s always fun mixing animation and live action! I co-directed this with the amazing, Adam Fuchs, who over saw the animation.
Shooting inside of Cartoon Network Studios and working along side the talented peeps from Adventure Time was a blast. They were all so nice and accomodating. Crayola loved the creative spin on their new product!
HASBRO HOLIDAY in TIMES SQUARE
Shooting a CUSTOM SNOWGLOBE in the middle of Times Square for Hasbro was awesome!
The actors were great and the 3-D and live action production team was stellar! There’s nothing like directing in Times Square, the energy that place exudes is amazing! The goal was to make it seem as if Hasbro had taken over Times Square and we did, with a little compositing help. We made 4, sixty second spots each one highlighting one of Hasbro’s featured toy for the holidays.
GOLDFISH SWEEPSTAKES
I worked with “THE” GIANT STUDIOS and the talented 3D aritist at Turner Studios to create this spot! I concepted, wrote and directed the talent as well as weighed in on the overall look. We put motion capture suits on extreme sport athletes then skinned them in gold in post. It was an awesome creative process and Goldfish was very happy!
NERF SPORTS
Working closely with Hasbro Nerf, I came up with the concept and directed the spot. Everything was shot with the RED camera on green screen and we added cg lights, rain and graphics in post.
